How can I help?
My pickleball philosophy
My philosophy for playing winning pickleball is based on three P's: patience, pressure, and punish!
The first P is patience. All too often we want to win the point instead of working the point. When we're too quick to speed up the ball or we don't show our opponent's shots the appropriate amount of respect we tend to lose control of the point and generally end up losing the point. Patience affords us the opportunity to get back to even and ultimately gain control of the point. Once we get back to even then we can begin applying pressure to our opponents.
Pressure can be applied in various ways. We can increase pressure by being in the appropriate place on the court, by getting every ball back, or by hitting penetrating shots that force our opponents into difficult positions that cause them to make mistakes. And there's the key, when we apply pressure, it draws unforced or forced errors from our opponents which we can then punish.
Earning the right to punish, or hit hard, one of our opponent's shots is the reward we've earned whenever we've shown patience and applied pressure.
Is pickleball right for me?
Pickleball is one of the most inviting, fun, social sports I've ever played. The game, its rules, court size, and spirit provide a welcoming and enjoyable experience to all. All you need is a paddle, a pickleball, some spare time, and access to a court to have one of the most fun times you've ever had.
What type of lessons do you offer?
I offer private and small-group lessons at your facility. Choose a single session or a four-session package.
Where do you conduct lessons?
I travel to your facility in Hernando, Hillsborough, or Pasco counties. Contact me to confirm the location before booking.
Do you offer discounts?
Four-session private and group packages are 20% less per session than their single-session rates. See the Lessons page for prices by group size.
How do I book multiple lessons?
Use the online booking page to see available times and reserve a lesson. For a four-session package or multiple lessons, contact Coach Mike to arrange the sessions and confirm the details.
What forms of payment do you accept?
You may choose to pay at the time of the session via cash, Zelle, or Venmo. If you prefer to use a credit card, I accept all major cards and you may pay at the time of the session or on-line when you book the session.
Can you help me understand your small group pricing?
I use my $60-per-hour private lesson as the starting point for small-group pricing. In a group session, each player shares my coaching time, so the cost per person is lower than for a private lesson. The total group rate also reflects the added work of coaching several players at once and tailoring the session so everyone benefits.
